Which players will miss Euro Cup semifinals?

Spain will face France in the first semifinal at Allianz Arena in Munich on Tuesday, July 9. The following day, the Netherlands will take on England at Westfalenstadion in Dortmund

The 24 teams that started Euro 2024 have been narrowed down to four, with Spain, France, the Netherlands, and England vying for the championship at Berlin’s Olympiastadion on July 14. The semifinals promise to be intense as these four European powerhouses battle for a spot in the final and a chance to be crowned champions. However, let us take a look at the players who are set to miss Euro Cup semifinals.

Spain will face France in the first semifinal at Allianz Arena in Munich on Tuesday, July 9. The following day, the Netherlands will take on England at Westfalenstadion in Dortmund. Spain, arguably the most impressive team in the tournament so far, faces significant selection challenges ahead of their clash with France.

List of players suspended for Euro 2024 semifinal

Head coach Luis de la Fuente must make at least two changes to his defence, which has kept three clean sheets in the group stage and conceded just two goals overall. Right-back Dani Carvajal and central defender Robin Le Normand, who have started four of Spain’s five matches, will miss the semifinal due to suspension.

  • Robin Le Normand (Spain): One game
  • Dani Carvajal (Spain): One game

Why were these players suspended?

Le Normand received his second yellow card of Euro 2024, resulting in an automatic one-game ban. Carvajal was sent off after receiving two yellow cards in the same game, leading to his suspension. Both players will be eligible to return for the final if Spain advances.

Pedri to miss Spain’s Euro Cup semifinal

In addition, Spain will be without star midfielder Pedri for the semifinal. The Barcelona player was forced off early in the quarterfinal against Germany and is not expected to return for the remainder of the tournament due to a knee sprain, which will sideline him for at least a month.
