After a brilliant playing career, former Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Liverpool star Thiago Alcantara is expected to announce his retirement from professional football. After his contract with Liverpool expired at the end of June, the 33-year-old left Liverpool, and the Saudi Pro League was expected to be among the top suitors for his transfer.

However, Thiago has reportedly made the decision to retire and end his playing career, starting a “new chapter in football,” according to football journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. Thiago will retire having played 488 senior club games, as well as 46 times for the Spanish national team.
