Will Sanju Samson’s entry in Harare force Dhruv Jurel out of India vs Zimbabwe 3rd T20I?

With Sanju Samson's entry, is it all over for Jurel in this T20I series against Zimbabwe? How can skipper Shubman Gill make way for a T20 World Cup-winning team member

Sanju Samson, who was part of the 15-member India squad that won the T20 World Cup in the West Indies, is now set for the Chevrons challenge. Sanju Samson is all set to play in the leftover 3 matches against Zimbabwe. Currently, the series between India and Zimbabwe stands at 1-1. In the first match, Zimbabwe produced an upset by beating India by 13 runs, whereas in the second game, the T20 world champions regained their authority by winning the game by 100 runs.

Looking at Sanju’s T20 World Cup campaign, there is hardly anything to look at and talk about, as he didn’t make a single appearance in the recently held World Cup, apart from one practice game against Bangladesh where he got out for 1 run. But with most seniors now resting, will this scenario open the door for Sanju to play against Zimbabwe in the third T20I?

Dhruv Jurel to make way for Sanju Samson?

It will be interesting to see who will make a way, but the best possible candidate is wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel, who made his debut in the first T20I against Zimbabwe. The wicketkeeper-batter didn’t had a good outing in that game.

Samson prefers to bat at the top of the order and likes to provide a solid base, but Ruturaj Gaikwad’s established position as the third batter complicates matters. Also, Rinku Singh, who played an impressive knock of 48 runs in just 22 balls with a strike rate of 218.18, seems to have cemented his place for the next game. This indicates that Jurel might be replaced by Sanju Samson in the upcoming match.
