Indian javelin thrower DP Manu’s dream of competing in the Paris Olympics has been dashed.
Ranked 15th in the world and exceeding the minimum number of athletes needed to qualify (32), Manu was a strong contender for a spot on the Indian team.
Manu suspended by NADA
Due to a provisional suspension by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA), DP Manu is unable to compete in any of the events.
A positive test for an anabolic steroid during the Indian Grand Prix in April led to his suspension. This suspension not only barred him from competing in the recently concluded National Inter-State Championships, which was the final qualification window for Indian athletes but also eliminated him from the Paris Olympics altogether.
