Athletes who might not win medal in Paris Olympics 2024

The Paris Olympics 2024 will be an opportunity for Indian athletes to showcase their talent on an international platform and emerge as stars.

We are vouching for some athletes who could clinch an Olympic medal in Paris, while there are also players who are unlikely to find success considering various factors and their current form. The Paris Olympics will begin on July 26, featuring India’s star athletes like Rohan Bopanna, Neeraj Chopra, and PV Sindhu. Will they be able to return home with a medal? Let’s explore the possibilities.

Players who might not win medal in Olympics

Men’s hockey team

The Indian Hockey Team has historically won the most medals for India in Olympic history. However, the current team will face a tough challenge in clinching a medal against formidable opponents.

While India has improved its performance in recent years, they are still not among the top teams. Once dominating the world of hockey, the ‘Men in Blue’ will need to play exceptionally well to win a medal.

Vinesh Phogat

The road to Paris was not easy for Vinesh Phogat. The Indian wrestler had to drop down from the 53 kg to the 50 kg weight category to compete in the event, as Antim Panghal had already secured a berth in the former category. Vinesh also underwent knee surgery, which could affect her performance in the relatively unfamiliar category she has opted for in the Paris Olympics.

Rohan Bopanna

Rohan Bopanna has been in his finest form with recent wins at the Australian Open and US Open. However, the odds are not in his favor for the Paris Olympics. The star tennis player is currently competing at Wimbledon, which is played on grass, while the Olympics matches will be played on clay at Roland Garros. This switch might be a bit unsettling.

Another key difference will be his partner. Bopanna’s recent success can be attributed in part to his partner Matthew Ebden, but in the upcoming event, he will not be playing with him. Instead, Sriram Bajaji will be his partner. Bopanna has less experience playing with Bajaji, who also has a lower rank compared to Ebden.

PV Sindhu

PV Sindhu is the most successful Indian woman player in the Olympics. In her two Olympic stints, she has won two medals: a silver in Rio and a bronze in Tokyo.

Sindhu will aim to clinch a hat-trick of medals at the Paris Olympics. However, considering her current form, she might miss this feat. Sindhu has also suffered some serious injuries, including one in her ankle and another in her knee, which have made matters worse for the lanky shuttler.
