Spain vs Germany Prediction: La Roja to claim all three points against Euro Cup hosts in Stuttgart

This quarterfinal clash features Euro 2024’s two top-scoring teams. Spain has scored nine goals, and Germany has netted ten

Hosts Germany continue their run towards what would be a dream final at Euro 2024. However, the formidable Spanish team stands in their way. As the quarterfinal approaches, both teams are equipped with talent and determination, promising a thrilling contest in Stuttgart. Ahead of the Spain vs Germany Euro 2024 quarterfinals game let us take a look at the prediction.

Spain vs Germany Prediction

This encounter promises to be closely contested. This quarterfinal clash features Euro 2024’s two top-scoring teams. Spain has scored nine goals, and Germany has netted ten, tying their record for the most goals in a single edition of the competition. Germany’s shot conversion rate of 13.9% is their highest since Euro 2008 (14.5%), although they lost to Spain in that year’s final.

According to the Opta supercomputer, Spain has a slight edge, winning 38.0% of the 10,000 pre-match simulations within 90 minutes, while Germany won 34.2%. The remaining 27.8% went to extra time. Considering extra time and penalties, Spain wins in 55.1% of the simulations, while Germany advances in 44.9%. Thus, Insidesport.IN predicts a narrow 3-2 victory for La Roja over the hosts.

Germany form in Euro 2024

Julian Nagelsmann’s squad had a strong group stage, beating Scotland (5-1) and Hungary (2-0) before drawing with Switzerland (1-1). They are coming off an impressive 2-0 win over Denmark. Germany has a remarkable record at this stage, with this being their 19th quarterfinal tie across the World Cup (14) and European Championship (5), the most of any European nation at these major tournaments. They have advanced from 15 of their previous 18 (83%), including all four at the Euros (1996, 2008, 2012, 2016).

Veteran midfielder Toni Kroos has been pivotal, knowing each game could be his last before retirement. He has completed 95% of his passes at the tournament (411/431), the highest completion rate by a player attempting 300+ passes at a European Championship on record (since 1980). Kroos also leads all players at Euro 2024 for line-breaking passes (125).

The future looks bright for Germany, especially with Jamal Musiala in the mix. Musiala has scored in three of Germany’s four games (three goals) and is joint-top scorer at the tournament. The only player to score more goals in a single edition of the Euros while aged 21 or younger was Wayne Rooney for England in 2004 (four).

Spain form in Euro 2024

Spain, meanwhile, recovered from an early shock against Georgia to win comfortably 4-1, making it four wins from four at the Euros so far. Luis de la Fuente’s side topped their group, defeating Croatia (3-0), Italy (1-0), and Albania (1-0).

Spain has several star players, but Fabián Ruiz has been particularly impactful. The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder has been involved in five goals in his last four games for Spain (three goals, two assists). He has both scored and assisted in two of his three games at Euro 2024 – no player has ever done so in three different games at a single European Championship edition.

Headlines have also been grabbed by star wingers Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal, who shone in the 4-1 win over Georgia. Sixteen-year-old Yamal has provided two assists for Spain at Euro 2024, becoming just the third teenager on record (since 1980) to achieve multiple assists at the competition, following Enzo Scifo (1984) and Cristiano Ronaldo (2004). He’s excelling on the big stage, completing 94% of his passes under pressure (106/113), the highest rate of any Spain player to play at least 180 minutes at Euro 2024.
