Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen has pulled out of the Canada Open Super 500. Lakshya, the defending champion, has withdrawn to focus on the upcoming Paris Olympics. Lakshya will train with Toma Popov and Christo Popov at the Halle des Sports Parseman in Marseille, France.
The Canada Open is set to take place from Tuesday in Calgary, Canada.
Lakshya This season, the Indian shuttler advanced to the semifinals of the French Open and the All-England Open, securing his spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Priyanshu Rajawat to take part
In Lakshya’s absence, Priyanshu Rajawat will take the lead for India at the event. The youngster will face Rasmus Gemke of Denmark in the Round of 32 on Wednesday.

S Sankar Muthusamy and Ayush Shetty are the other two Indian shuttlers to take part in the singles event.
In men’s doubles, Krishna Garga and Sai Pratheek are the only Indian pairing competing in the main draw. They will face Canadian shuttlers Lap Pong and Larry Pong in the first round.
Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will challenge in the women’s double event. Kona Tarun-Sri Krishna Priya and Rohan Kapoor-Ruthvika Gadde will represent India in mixed doubles at the BWF World Tour event.
Lakshya is the medal hope for India
Lakshya is rising through the ranks of Indian badminton, currently ranked just below his compatriot Prannoy in the world rankings. He competed in six singles tournaments, finishing in the top three twice, including at All England. He also advanced to the quarterfinals of the Indonesia Open, giving the 22-year-old a chance to win an Olympic medal if he push his limits.
