English veteran cricketer James Anderson will continue to remain with the England Cricket Team even after his retirement. The ace pacer is set to hang up his boots at Lord’s when the Three Lions take on West Indies in July. But even after his retirement, Anderson will continue to be a backroom staff as the fast bowling mentor of the team.
James Anderson is set to draw an end to his illustrious career in July as the 41-year-old is slated to play his last Test match for the Three Lions. With 700 Test wickets, Anderson is one of the greatest bowlers ever to play the red-ball format of the game.
New role for James Anderson
Anderson will continue to mentor the team for the remainder of the two Test matches against West Indies. Following which he will also be a part of the backroom staff in the Sri Lanka series.
“He’s got so much to offer English cricket, we don’t want to see that go.He’s going to be with us all summer. It’s something that he’s very keen to do as well.” said Rob Key, the managing director of England men’s cricket.
“He hasn’t done loads and loads of it, but we’ve got no question about his knowledge and experience with bowling. We have a great opportunity for the rest of the summer to find out just how much he enjoys it or doesn’t enjoy it. What he does with Lancashire, we’ll probably work out after the Lord’s Test. Someone like Jimmy Anderson is going to have lots of options. I think English cricket would be very lucky if he chooses to stay in our game,” Key concluded.
