Over the course of this T20 World Cup 2024, it has become amply clear that Pakistan batter Ahmed Shehzad has grown bitter due to his repeated absence from team. It seems like, he is at loggerheads with the skipper Babar Azam as well, with whom he played age-group cricket as well.
Babar Azam vs Ahmed Shehzad?
Now, during a show on Geo News, the 32-year-old expectedly, did not pick Babar Azam in his all-time Pakistan XI. In fact, he also came up with a reason for that. He named Saeed Anwar and Majid Khan as the two openers, followed by Zaheer Abbas, Younis Khan, and Javed Miandad.
“Saeed Anwar is everyone’s favourite who used to play everywhere across the ground. I have watched many of Majid Khan’s videos and he looked a stylish batter. He has many records while playing in his era,” he added.
“He [Zaheer Abbas} was pleasing to the eye, the cover drive was great and used to dominate the bowlers. Younis Khan was a hard-working player with very good stats. Having him in any side is icing on the cake. I know I have placed him below but how can I miss Javed Miandad.? Growing up watching him play, I had to adjust to him somewhere in my team.

Shahid Afridi, Moin Khan, Saqlain Mushtaq, and Mohammad Zahid too made it to the list. “Shahid Afridi is the batter who can hit sixes and bowl spin. It was a tough call but for wicketkeeper-spot but Moin Khan used to take neat takes with ball going smoothly in his gloves,” he said.
“Saqlain has won us matches and has great stats. It’s impossible if someone is playing in their childhood and are not following Wasim Akram and his achievements.”
“Zahid played very little cricket and I remember once Brian Lara said, he is the fastest I have ever played,” he maintained.
