And Team India finally broke their 10-year jinx to finally step into the finals of a T20 World Cup! Rohit Sharma and his men gave a proper drubbing to the England team, who had no answers for the questions posed by Indian spinners on a spinning track in Guyana. June 27 undoubtedly went to the India vs England semifinal. While there were rain delays and all the pre-match buzz, the day ended in a joyous way for India, where it was 1:31 am (IST) when Bumrah’s dismissal of Archer sent the Men in Blue flying to the finals!

India to lift T20 World Cup 2024 Final?

Cricket fever is at an all-time high in India! The Men in Blue have thumped England to book their spot in the T20 World Cup 2024 final. This sets up a mouthwatering clash against South Africa on June 29th. India’s dominance throughout the tournament has been remarkable, remaining unbeaten so far. However, similar is the case with the Proteas. The nation is buzzing with anticipation. Can India finally quench their thirst for a World Cup title, a drought stretching back to 2011?

Rohit Sharma and spinners bamboozle England!

India’s win against England was a bowling masterclass by Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav. Axar’s sensational 3/23, including Buttler’s wicket, stifled England’s batting early on. Kuldeep’s unplayable spin on the Guyana pitch yielded another 3 wickets for just 19 runs, leaving the English batters clueless. Rohit Sharma, fresh off his 92 against Australia, top-scored with a brilliant 57, anchoring the innings after early top-order losses. Although his dismissal prevented a potential 200+ score, India’s bowlers ensured victory.

‘Dejected’ Virat Kohli flops …again

And Virat Kohli’s horror show in this T20 World Cup continued as he was dismissed by another left-arm pacer (Reece Topley this time). Enduring a rough patch, Kohli was cleaned up by Topley despite hitting him for a six two balls earlier. Following his early dismissal, Kohli seemingly looked ‘dejected‘. It didn’t come as a surprise for King Kohli, who is otherwise used to dominate on big occasions.

South Africa creates history, AFG’s T20 WC campaign ends in agony

The first T20 World Cup semi-final was an ultra dominant display by South Africa, crushing Afghanistan’s dream run in the tournament. Chasing a paltry 57 set by Afghanistan, the Proteas cruised to victory in just 8.5 overs, losing only one wicket. Marco Jansen’s fiery opening spell with the new ball dismantled Afghanistan’s batting order, restricting them to their lowest ever T20 World Cup total. This emphatic win booked South Africa’s place in their maiden T20 World Cup final, ending a remarkable journey for Afghanistan, who had upset several strong teams throughout the competition.

Semifinal celebrations cut short for SA!

South Africa’s World Cup dream hit a snag. After reaching the final, their flight to Barbados for preparations was delayed 6 hours due to a small plane incident at the Barbados airport. Players, families, and officials were stuck at the Trinidad airport, forced to wait for an inspection to clear the runway. Thankfully, there were no injuries, but the Proteas’ pre-final preparations were undeniably disrupted.

LPL 2024 to feature ‘Power Blast’

Borrowing from the IPL’s playbook, Sri Lanka Cricket is shaking up the LPL with a new rule: “Power Blast.” This two-over powerplay kicks in during the 16th and 17th overs, somewhat mirroring the initial powerplay but with just four fielders outside the circle. This applies throughout the tournament, aiming to generate high-scoring finishes and boost LPL’s excitement.
