He might have got 14 World Cup goals, but Kylian Mbappe didn’t have a single UEFA Euro goal. Until today. In France’s third Group stage match against Poland, he scored his maiden goal in Euro. A well slotted penalty in the second half game, makes it his 48th international goal for Les Blues.
First in Euro!
Kylian Mbappe has been waiting to score for France in Euro for a long time. While in 2 editions of the FIFA World Cup, he has managed to score 14 goals for his country, he had no goals in Euro.
Back in the 2022 edition, France managed to reach the knockouts, but Mbappe has been unable to find the back of the net. In UEFA Euro 2024, he however, managed to finally break his curse. In his first match, Mbappe broke his nose and was benched in the second game.
But in the third game against Poland, he started with his famous mask. And come the 56th minute of the game, he stepped up from the spot to score his maiden goal in UEFA Euro.
Most goals for France
Olivier Giroud still leads as the highest goal getter for his country with 57 goals. Thierry Henry is second on the list with 51 goals. Ans now with his 48 goal, Kylian Mbappe, the new France captain remains third on the list of the most goals scored for France.
