No more minnows! Afghanistan create history to seal first-ever ICC semis after edging Bangladesh

Afghanistan edged past Bangladesh by 8 runs in their final Super 8 fixture to create history by qualifying for T20 World Cup semis for the first time ever

Afghanistan edged past Bangladesh in a rain-hit low-scoring thriller to book their berth in the T20 World Cup semi-finals. Rashid Khan and co. held their nerves to pull off a stunning win against BAN, continuing their dream run in the marquee tournament. With this 8-run win, AFG has made it to the semi-final of the T20 World Cup for the first time ever.

Bangladesh choke to help Afghanistan create history

Chasing 113 runs, the Bangladesh batting order collapsed like a pack of cards, with only opener Litton Das playing the role of a lone warrior. Despite the game being stopped multiple times due to rain and the target being revised, Shanto and co. were unable to capitalize on the situation.

The opener stayed unbeaten on 52 runs at the end of the game as Bangladesh faced an heartbreaking exit from the tournament. Afghanistan bowlers dominated the proceedings from ball number one and never let the batters settle. Rashid Khan and Naveen-ul-Haq picked up four wickets each to decimate the Tigers.
