In a re-run of the T20 World Cup 2022 semis, India cricket team will take on England in semi-final 2 of the 2024 edition. The clash will take place at the Providence stadium in Guyana on June 27. However, the game faces a potential risk of being washed out, with the weather forecast projecting rain throughout the day of the semi-final. One question that arises at this point is what will happen if the game gets washed out? Who will be knocked out in that case – India or England?
What happens if India vs England is washed out?
As per AccuWeather, there are 88% chances of rain and 18% chances of thunderstorms on June 27 in Guyana. The game is scheduled to begin 10.30 AM local time. If the game is washed out without a ball being bowled, then India will directly proceed to the finals of the T20 World Cup by the virtue of finishing on top of the group in the Super 8 stage. This will come into effect only if no play is possible at all.
Is there a reserve day for IND vs ENG semi-final?
It is pertinent to point out that the tie at Guyana has no reserve day but has been allotted 250 additional minutes of extra time in order to get a result if the game is washed out. Unlike the first semi-final in Trinidad, IND vs ENG does not have a reserve day in place. In any case, the reserve day would prove to be stressful for either India or England as they will have to play the final within 24 hours of the semi-final 2.
