David Miller breaches ICC code of conduct against England, South Africa star reprimanded

Both Miller and the South African team will be eager to put this behind them and concentrate on their remaining matches in the T20 World Cup.

South Africa’s star batsman David Miller has received an official reprimand from the ICC for breaching their code of conduct during the team’s Super 8 match against England in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.

Moment of frustration leads to reprimand

The incident occurred in the 19th over of South Africa‘s innings. Facing a full toss delivery from England’s Sam Curran, David Miller expected it to be called a no ball. When the umpire didn’t make the call, Miller signaled for a review, which is not possible in such situations.

This action was deemed to be dissent towards the umpire’s decision, thereby violating Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct.

First offense for David Miller

While David Miller’s actions resulted in a reprimand, it’s important to note that this is his first offense within a 24-month period. He has also accepted the sanction imposed by the match officials, eliminating the need for a formal hearing.

Demerit Point added to David Miller record

As a consequence of the breach, Miller has received a demerit point on his disciplinary record. This serves as a warning and could potentially lead to harsher penalties for future offenses within a specified timeframe.
