Bangladesh not sure about Afghanistan series in India

A final decision will depend on discussions with the team management and a careful consideration of player workload.

Afghanistan vs Bangladesh: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has cast doubt on the upcoming white-ball series against Afghanistan scheduled for July in India.

Series rescheduled, plans changed

Earlier plans for a full tour of Afghanistan, including two Tests, were shelved. The ACB proposed a revised itinerary for the BCB, featuring three ODIs and three T20Is to be played in Greater Noida between July 25th and August 6th.

Test Matches in 2025

Discussions between the two boards suggest that the two Test matches will likely be postponed to 2025 due to Bangladesh‘s already packed red-ball schedule.

This includes a two-Test series in Pakistan following the T20 World Cup, a two-Test series in India, a two-Test series against South Africa at home in October, and a two-Test tour of the West Indies later in the year.

Player fatigue a concern for BCB

While a window exists in July for the white-ball series against Afghanistan, the BCB is hesitant to commit. Their primary concern is player fatigue, as they aim to avoid overburdening their players with excessive cricket.

BCB yet to decide

BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury confirmed to Cricbuzz that discussions regarding the July series are ongoing, but a final decision has yet to be made.

He emphasized that the series was initially planned but not yet finalized. Cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus echoed this sentiment, citing unfavorable weather conditions in July as an additional factor.
