‘Don’t be embarrassed’: Curtly Ambrose lifts USA’s spirit with inspiring dressing room speech

USA suffered a narrow 18-run loss at the hands of South Africa in their opening Super 8 game.

USA on Wednesday started their T20 World Cup Super Eight stage on a disappointing note when they lost by 18 runs against South Africa. The USA players must have been feeling low after the loss and needed a bit of a lift-up. Legendary West Indies pacer Sir Curtly Ambrose arrived in the USA dressing room after the match and delivered a rousing speech that must have gone a long way in lifting the spirits up of Aaron Jones and co.

Curtly Ambrose lifts USA’s spirits

Good afternoon everybody, I’ll make it quick. You guys played a great game today. Even though you lost, you played a great game. You have nothing to be ashamed of, nothing to be embarrassed, you played a damn good game, against a very good team. You can build on this going forward for the other games,” Ambrose was heard saying in a video uploaded by ICC on their social media channel.

I just want to wish you guys all the very best, and you can do better. Just continue to believe in yourselves, and don’t be intimidated by the team you’re playing against. Always believe in yourself individually, and as a team. And of course, enjoy what you do. All the very best going forward and you never know what can happen,” Ambrose added.
