PCB threatens ‘legal action’, demands apology from fan after Haris Rauf altercation

This incident comes at a time when the Pakistan team is already under scrutiny for their disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken a strong stance against a fan’s altercation with fast bowler Haris Rauf in the United States of America. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi issued an ultimatum to the fan, demanding a public apology or facing legal consequences.

Fan’s spark altercation with Haris Rauf

While enjoying personal time with his wife in the USA, Haris Rauf was approached by a fan who requested a photo. However, the situation escalated when the fan allegedly made disrespectful remarks about Rauf’s family.

This provoked the pacer, who confronted the fan despite his wife’s attempts to calm the situation. A video of the pushing and shoving incident went viral on social media, sparking mixed reactions from fans about Rauf’s reaction.

PCB condemns fan’s behavior

Reacting swiftly, the PCB chief condemned the fan’s actions in a social media statement. Naqvi highlighted that such behavior towards players is “unacceptable” and “will not be tolerated.”

He demanded a public apology from the fan, failing which the board will pursue legal action.

“Strongly condemn the appalling incident involving Haris Rauf. Such actions against our players are completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Those who are involved must immediately apologise to Haris Rauf, failing which we will pursue legal action against the individual responsible.” Mohsin Naqvi said.

Haris Rauf justifies response

Rauf, who had a decent performance in the recent T20 World Cup with seven wickets, also addressed the incident on social media. He acknowledged the public’s right to critique players’ performance, but emphasized that disrespect towards his family wouldn’t be tolerated.
