End of Euro 2024 for Kylian Mbappe? France skipper suffers possible broken nose against Austria

Euro 2024: France skipper Kylian Mbappe suffers possible broken nose, raising huge doubts over his availability for Les Blues for the remainder of the tournament

It is certainly the news that France Football Team fans were not expecting. Young talismanic forward Kylian Mbappe has most probably suffered a broken nose in his UEFA Euro 2024 opening clash against Austria. The ace forward was left bloodied in the dying minutes of the game and was then subbed off. Now this has raised concerns if the new Real Madrid forward can continue for the remainder of the tournament.

Kylian Mbappe fractures nose?

Kylian Mbappe has a rather silent night in France’s slender 1-0 win over Austria. But it was his brilliant move that resulted in the goal. The ace forward came close to scoring twice, with a major miss in the 55th minute of the game, missing in front of an open goal.

But the biggest highlight came in the 86th minute of the game. Mbappe went down on the ground after a clash with Kevin Danso. The France Football Team skipper was spotted bleeding profusely from his nose. The game was immediately halted and medical attention was brought in. 4 minutes later, Mbappe was subbed off with France’s all time top scorer Olivier Giroud coming on as a substitute.

End for Mbappe or Masked Mbappe Back?

After the match, France’s head coach Didier Deschamps claimed that Kylian Mbappe has possibly suffered a broken nose. While the severity of the injury is yet to be known, as a result no proper conclusion can be drawn. If it is a major injury which would require immediate surgery, then there is a high chance for Mbappe to miss the remainder of the tournament.

On the other hand, if the injury is rather minimal, then Mbappe will likely wear a mask for the rest of the tournament. Wearing face guards or masks is not uncommon. Many footballers wear a protective gear around their faces to prevent any further injury on them.
