Following Pakistan's first-ever failure to advance past the group stage of the T20 World Cup, Inzamam alluded to potential lineup changes and acknowledged the team's downward spiral.

Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq rued his team’s exit from the T20 World Cup. Pakistan lost to the United States and India, respectively, and was unable to advance past the group stage. After placing first and second in Group A with seven and five points, respectively, India and the USA guaranteed their spot in the Super 8 stage.

Inzamam expresses concern over ‘decline’

Following Pakistan‘s first-ever failure to advance past the group stage of the T20 World Cup, Inzamam alluded to potential lineup changes and acknowledged the team’s downward spiral.

Our cricket in declining. I am not saying this because of the loss against USA. We also lost to Ireland (before the World Cup). We lost to New Zealand’s third string side at home and also the England. Prior to this, our performances in T20 format has been better than others. But our cricket has been on a downward trajectory of late. I am not saying that we should sack some players and get new ones, but the PCB needs to have dialogue on the reason behind such a decline,” Inzamam said on his YouTube channel.

Changes afoot?

Following a washout in Florida, Pakistan were officially eliminated on Friday when the United States of America emerged from Group A as the second team to qualify after India, their bitter rivals. After Pakistan’s early elimination from the T20 World Cup, the PCB may decide to review the central contracts of the players and possibly reduce their salaries.
