Star Boy: Jude Bellingham continues to shine as England begin Euro 2024 campaign with win over Serbia

England vs Serbia: Three Lions clinch 1-0 win over Eagles as star boy Jude Bellingham grabs early opener to begin UEFA Euro 2024 on right note

Love them or Hate them, but you can’t ignore them! It was England’s star boy Jude Bellingham who opened the scoring for the Three Lions. A blasting header in the 13th minute of the game helped England put wind on their sails. While both teams struggled to convert their chances, Harry Kane did come close to doubling his side’s lead. Eventually, after a rather cagey and physical battle, England walk away with 3 points to top Group C.

Golden Boy Shines Again!

There were high hopes on England’s golden Boy Jude Bellingham to shine. And boy did he not disappoint. The Three Lions started the game on positive note, eager to grab an opening goal. In a bid to counter the English charge, Serbia executed a low block to counter the barrages of attacks.

But the deadlock was broken in the 13th minute of the game. Ever a menace on the right flank, Bukayo Saka went past his marker Filip Kostic to attempt a cross. But the ball took the aerial route after hitting the foot of the defender. While targetman Harry Kane moved forward, he drew the defenders with him, only for an advancing Jude Bellingham to head into the back of the net.

England continued to dominate traffic after getting the opening goal. Jude Bellingham was again at the heart of everything. Be it snatching or making some audacious passes. A mega highlight came, when the 20 year old casually shot a diagonal pass to spread the game which reached Kyle Walker on the other side of the pitch.

Jude Bellingham achieves mega feat!

Even before the game started, Jude Bellingham registered his name in the pages of history. The Real Madrid ace midfielder became the only European player to appear in two Euro and one FIFA World Cup before tuning 21 years of age. Back in UEFA Euro 2020, he became England’s third youngster player to appear in Euro.

Bellingham played a key role England’s quarter final journey in the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. And now at 20 years of age, he made his second Euro competition appearance for the Three Lions.

Serbia Relentless!

Towards the dying minutes of the first half, the Eagles took control of the game. Serbia were determined to prove their worth. The Eagles got quite a few chances but failed to consolidate their chances. Back in the second half skipper Alexander Mitrovic pleaded for penalty after a push by Tripper, but the referee remained astute.

Harry Kane came close to doubling his side’s lead in the dying minutes of the game. But his ferocious header deflected after hitting the crossbar. With the game turning physical and cagey in the latter parts, England were happy to walk away with all 3 points in the bag.
