Dutch claim a narrow win in Poland vs Netherlands

Despite the cringe-worthy moment, Koeman likely isn’t too worried. His team managed to secure a 2-1 comeback win in their Euro 2024 opener, with substitute Wout Weghorst scoring the decisive goal late in the match.

Poland seized an unexpected lead in the 16th minute when Adam Buksa. Buksa leaped above three opponents to flick home a corner kick from stand-in captain Piotr Zielinski.

In the 29th minute, Cody Gakpo equalised with a low drive from beyond the area that deflected off defender Bartosz Salamon and beat Wojciech Szczesny.

The Dutch missed multiple chances throughout the game. Tijjani Reijnders, Memphis Depay, Gakpo, and Virgil van Dijk were all unable to capitalise in the first half.
