Spain coach Luis de la Fuente urged his side to keep their feet on the ground after the team got off to a blistering start to their UEFA Euro 2024 campaign. Spain brushed past Luka Modric’s Croatia 3-0 to launch their bid for a 4th Euro Cup.
Goals from Alvaro Morata, Fabian Ruiz and Dani Carvajal sealed the tie for La Rojas as Croatia missed a penalty in the second half.
Staying calm is power: Luis de la Fuente
Speaking after the match, Fuente said, “The players know the country is going to be very excited, we’re aware of that and of the euphoria. We just have to stay calm and be professional because staying calm is power.“
“Of course this give us a boost, and settles us, but in five days we have a big game against Italy. Above all we have to stay calm, our target is still very far away, we have to just keep our feet on the ground,” Fuente added.
