Jos Buttler can breathe sigh of relief as Australia refrain from sabotaging England’s Super 8 chances

Chasing 181, at one stage it looked like Australia would just fall short. However, with England cheering them on, the Aussies reached the target with two balls to spare.

Australia on Sunday ensured their arch-rivals England qualified for the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup when they beat Scotland by 5 wickets. Courtesy of the loss, Scotland’s net run rate remained below England’s, and although both of them finished at four points, England went through to the Super Eight stage.

Hazlewood’s comments almost proved true

Australia didn’t have the total dominance their fans expected in their match against Scotland, much to the dismay of English fans. At one point of time in the match, it looked like Josh Hazlewood’s comment on knocking England out ‘in the best interest of everyone’ looked possible.

However, chasing 181, Travis Head’s 68 of 49 balls, Marcus Stoinis’s 59 of 29 balls and cameo in the end by Tim David ensured Australia couldn’t be accused of sabotaging the match to get their arch-rivals England knocked out of the T20 World Cup.

Moreover, the win ensured Australia maintained a perfect record in the group stages of T20 World Cup, winning all four matches with ease.
