Widespread changes begin in Pakistan cricket after T20 WC exit, PCB to introduce two-NOCs clause

PCB will have the final say on granting NOC to any player who is understood to be at risk workload or fitness-wise.

Pakistan cricket are staring at some widespread changes after their premature exit from the T20 World Cup 2024. USA vs Ireland on Friday was washed out due to incessant rain in Florida, confirming Pakistan’s elimination from group stage. Now, the PCB has come up with a two-NOCs policy to ensure they run a more tight ship from here on to get the country’s cricketing aspirations back on track.

Only two franchise leagues for Pak players in a year beside PSL

According to the two-NOCs policy, any player who signs both central and domestic contracts in Pakistani cricket must abide by a clause stating that, in addition to participating in the Pakistan Super League, a player may only receive an NOC for a maximum of two overseas leagues per year.

The other players have also been given a clear message that the two NOC’s rule applies to both centrally and domestic contracted players and the board also reserves the right to turn down any NOC request from any player,” news agency PTI quoted an official source in the board as saying.

Granting NOC entirely at PCB’s disposal

PCB will have the final say on granting NOC to any player who is understood to be at risk workload or fitness-wise. PCB will also take the final call on granting NOCs to even non-international players.

According to the same source, Pakistani leg-spinner Usama Mir, who signed a deal to play for The Hundred and the Vitality Blast in England, was informed recently that he has already played his allotted two franchise league tournaments this year.

Mir took the argument that since he was free of any international commitments and there was no domestic event he should be allowed to play in England, he was told in clear terms this is not for him but for the board to decide,” the source said.
