After Pakistan crash out of T20 World Cup, blame game starts among ex-players

While Mohammed Hafeez claimed that the cricketers will be made scapegoat after the premature exit, Ahmad Shahzad pinned the blame on cricketers.

Pakistan on Friday were eliminated from the group stage of the T20 World Cup 2024 as USA’s match against Ireland was washed away. USA moved to five points with the draw and became the second team after India to qualify for the Super Eight from Group A. Pakistan were criticised by their former players quite a lot during the tournament, and after their elimination was confirmed, some ex-players took to social media to express their dismay.

Hafeez waits for scapegoat treatment

Former Pakistan batter Mohammed Hafeez took X to suggest that the fault of Pakistan’s poor outing in the T20 World Cup lay with officials more than the players. His one-line tweet also hinted that some players will be made a scapegoat after the first round exit.

“Qurbani Kay Janwar Hazir Hon,” Hafeez wrote on X (previously Twitter).

Ahmad Shahzad slams ‘undeserving’ cricketers

Another former cricketer Ahmad Shahzad slammed the cricketers for their lackluster performance. He wrote a long post on X and claimed that the deserving team reached the Super Eight. He also mocked the Pakistan team for depending on Ireland to take them through to the next round.

The deserving team is through to Super 8 round. If you’re depending on Ireland to defeat someone, you seriously don’t deserve to qualify. Don’t think even “Kudrat Ka Nizam” works for those who are not deserving or ready to improve. All eyes on PCB chairman now!” Shahzad wrote on X.
