Pakistan rekindled their T20 World Cup hopes with a patient win over Canada on Tuesday. After losing the first two group stage matches, Pakistan finally got themselves registered in the points table with a win. Pakistan now will need to win their last group stage match against Ireland. Additionally, they will need negative results from USA to qualify to the Super Eight stage. However, Florida’s weather seems to be a major tumbling block in Pakistan’s bid for Super Eight qualification.
Pakistan staring at early exit?
The Central Broward Regional Park stadium in Florida was supposed to host the SL vs NEP match on Wednesday. However, the game got washed away without a ball being bowled due to incessant downpour.
Pakistan take on Ireland on June 16th at the same venue, while USA will play their last group stage match against Irleand in Florida on June 14th. Florida’s weather forecast predicts heavy shower everyday during the next week.

Florida rain to aid USA qualification
Pakistan will be out of the T20 World Cup if either of the two matches gets washed out due to rain. USA will gain a point against Ireland if their match gets washed out, moving to 5 points and ensuring qualification even if they lose to India on Wednesday.
Pakistan will only have a chance if USA lose their two matches. However, if the PAK vs IRE gets abandoned, they will be out of contention for a Super Eight berth. So it is fair to say Pakistan will be spending sleepless nights worrying more about the Florida weather than their last game against Ireland.
