We saw another fine chapter add to the already storied enthralling rivalry between India and Pakistan, with the Men in Blue pulling off a sensational victory.

Phew! That was some game between two arch-nemesis! It was going in Pakistan’s way all through but when pressure got to them, the Babar Azam-led side crumbled. A dramatic turn of events unfolded at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York as India secured a narrow win in the ongoing T20 World Cup. What initially appeared like a comfortable chase for Pakistan, quickly transformed into a nail-biting thriller.

T20 World Cup

A low-scoring thriller between India vs Pakistan!

Chasing a modest target of 120 runs, Pakistan appeared in control at one stage, cruising at 57/1. However, a spirited bowling performance by India saw them claw their way back into the contest, eventually securing a narrow victory.

India’s batting faltered first up, with only a few players managing to get into double digits. This left them with a below-par score of 119 runs. Despite the underwhelming total, the Indian bowling attack displayed exceptional determination. The turning point arrived when Pakistan lost quick wickets after a seemingly comfortable start.

What did Rohit Sharma have to say above India’s superb win?

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, in the post-match interview, attributed the win to the team’s unwavering spirit. He emphasized the importance of the “never-say-die” attitude that kept his team believing even when the odds were stacked against them. Rohit acknowledged the quality of the bowling attack, but highlighted the collective effort from all players as the key factor.

With the bowling lineup we have, you feel confident to get the job done. But the never say die attitude in the team (did it). Halfway through the second innings we said if things can happen to us, it can happen to them as well. (On the character) That’s what is required in a tournament like this. The little contributions from everyone make a difference.,” Hitman said in the post match presentation.

This victory extended India’s dominance over Pakistan in T20 World Cup encounters, with their current win-loss record standing at an impressive 7-1.
