India lost both openers, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, cheaply after Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, opted to field first on Sunday, June 9. Naseem Shah took Kohli’s wicket in just three balls during the T20 World Cup 2024 Group A clash. Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma was present at the stands and was not happy as her husband walked back to the pavilion as a picture of the same went viral on social media.
This is only the second time Kohli has been dismissed by Pakistan in T20 World Cups, the first being in 2021 when he scored 57 off 49 balls. Despite this setback, Kohli remains the highest run-scorer in India vs. Pakistan T20 World Cup encounters, with a total of 312 runs across six innings.
