In a surprising turn of events, Indian superstars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were absent from the team’s optional training session on the eve of their high-octane T20 World Cup encounter against arch-rivals Pakistan. The Men in Blue are scheduled to have a practice session at Cantiague Park in New York and will also address media houses for a press conference ahead of the mouth-watering clash.
Only Samson and Dube hit the nets!
The news, shared by journalist Vimal Kumar who is following the Indian team throughout the T20 World Cup 2024 tournament. While training sessions on the day before a match are often designated as optional, the absence of both Kohli and Rohit, two of India’s most experienced players, is noteworthy. This is especially surprising considering Rohit Sharma took a hit to his hand during a training session just the day before (June 7).
The only other members of the 15-man squad who opted to utilize the training session were Shivam Dube and Sanju Samson. While Samson didn’t find a place in the opening clash against Ireland, Dube is enduring a lean patch. The decision for almost all the players to miss the optional training session would be because to stay fresh for the main event that will grab all the headline on Sunday!
