Alexander Nubel axed as Julian Nagelsmann names 26-member final Germany Euro 2024 squad

The host nation face Scotland in their opening match but first face Ukraine and Greece in warm-up games ahead of the tournament

Julian Nagelsmann has announced the final 26-man Germany Euro 2024 squad, with one player being cut. The hosts kick off the tournament this year when they take Scotlnd at the Allianz Arena on 15th June.

Alexander Nubel out of Germany Euro 2024 squad

Nagelsmann, former manager of RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich, decided to omit one of his four goalkeepers, leaving Stuttgart’s Alexander Nubel as the unfortunate player missing out. Two Premier League stars, Arsenal’s Kai Havertz and Brighton’s Pascal Gross, have been named in the squad.

Real Madrid’s Champions League winners, Antonio Rudiger and Toni Kroos, are included, with Kroos set to retire after the tournament. Barcelona contributes two players: goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen and midfielder Ilkay Gundogan. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich boasts six players in the squad, including Thomas Muller, the 2010 World Cup Golden Boot winner, and veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

Defenders: Waldemar Anton, Maximilian Mittelstadt (both Stuttgart), Benjamin Henrichs, David Raum (both RB Leipzig), Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich), Robin Koch (Frankfurt), Antonio Rudiger (Real Madrid), Nico Schlotterbeck (Borussia Dortmund), Jonathan Tah (Bayer Leverkusen)

Midfielders: Robert Andrich, Florian Wirtz (both Bayer Leverkusen), Chris Fuhrich (Stuttgart), Pascal Gross (Brighton), Ilkay Gundogan (Barcelona), Toni Kroos (Real Madrid), Jamal Musiala, Aleksandar Pavlovic, Leroy Sane (all Bayern Munich)
