USA pull off major upset in T20 World Cup, beat mighty Pakistan in thrilling super over

USA go through multiple emotions as heartbreak turns to unbound joy in a matter of few minutes.

USA on Thursday caused a major upset when they hampered Pakistan’s start to T20 World Cup 2024 by beating them by 5 runs. Although it took a super over and quite a bit of drama to have an end result, it looked it was worth it as USA players celebrated slaying a cricketing giant jubilantly after the end of PAK vs USA.

USA start off well

USA won the toss and decided to bowl in a tie that looked like a comfortable win for Pakistan. Babar Azam and Shadab Khan’s 40 odd scores helped Pakistan reach a respectable total of 159 as USA produced a bowling effort that kept Pakistan on tight leash.

USA openers help nation dream

Chasing 160, USA got off to a brisk start as skipper Monank Patel’s 50 and Andries Gous’s 35 took them closer to the target. However, They lost a bit of momentum in the middle as the pace trio of Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf and Mohammed Amir bought Pakistan into the game.
