The stage is set for Sunil Chhetri’s final match before he hangs his boots in International football. Ahead of the highly anticipated encounter, the Indian Football Team will be eager to go full throttle to extract a win. A victory for the Blue Tigers will almost ensure a place in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers 3rd Round. India will be without the services of ace forward Vikram Pratap Singh in this crucial encounter.

India is expected to field a strong Playing XI in Sunil Chhetri’s last match in National colours. It is expected that Sunil Chhetri will start the game to lead the charge for the Blue Tigers. With no Vikram Pratap Singh in the wings, Lallianzuala Chhangte is expected to start from the left flanks. This can prompt, Igor Stimac to field in quite a few surprise additions in the teams.

India Predicted Playing XI

Igor Stimac has claimed Gurpreet Singh Sandhu will start the match. He has claimed that the number 1 keeper will retain his place in the team given it is an extremely important game. The defence line-up is more or less settled. Nikhil Poojary will start at right back, which is his usual spot.

Anwar Ali and Rahul Bheke will be the key players at the heart of the defence. India will be missing the services of long term absentee Sandesh Jhingan in the defence. Mohun Bagan skipper Shubasish Bose will occupy the left back role in the absence of Akash Mishra. The likes of Jay Gupta who can play as a centre back and left back will be a safe and reliable option in the bench.

Playing at the heart of the midfield, the two work horses Anirudh Thapa is expected to partner Jeakson Singh. Up front as the number 10, Brandon Fernandes is likely to start. There is another option for Stimac in the form of Sahal Abdul Samad who can come on as a substitute in the latter part of the game.

No Vikram Pratap means Lallianzuala Chhangte plays as a left winger. The ever workhorse Manvir Singh will occupy the right wing role. On the other hand, it will be none other than the skipper, Sunil Chhetri who will lead the charge. India has options with Liston Colaco, Edmund and Rahim Ali who can join in late as substitutes.

India Predicted Playing XI: Gurpreet Singh Sandhu; Nikhil Poojary, Anwar Ali, Rahul Bheke, Subhasish Bose; Anirudh Thapa, Jeakson Singh; Manvir Singh, Brandon Fernandes, Lallianzuala Chhangte; Sunil Chhetri
