Rohan Bopanna conferred with Padma Shri after becoming oldest Grand Slam champion

Bopanna is just the fourth Indian to win a Grand Slam. He's also the oldest No. 1 Masters and Grand Slam champion in men's doubles.

21 years after becoming a professional tennis player, Rohan Bopanna has been conferred with the Padma Shri, the highest civilian honor an Indian can receive. The world’s No. 1 ranked men’s doubles player has been awarded for his excellence in the field of sports. The 44-year-old was conferred with the award in Delhi by India’s President Droupadi Murmu.

Bopanna is having a career-best season in 2024. In January, he won the Australian Open and became the oldest No. 1 and the oldest Grand Slam champion in men’s doubles tennis. He’s also won the Miami Open 2024 in March and became the oldest Masters 1000 title champion in history.
