Major controversy erupts at Chhatrasal Stadium, wrestling coach beaten up by trainee

Back in 2021, Chhatrasal Stadium had come into news when wrestler Sagar Dhankar was beaten to death by a group of wrestlers.

Indian wrestling is going through a crisis at the moment..in fact, a series crisis, to be precise. The two years have seen a top wrestler getting arrested, to other wrestlers going on a protest against an ex-WFI president, then all national camps coming to a halt, and what not. Now, another wrestling-related incident has come to the shock of many.

Chhatrasal Stadium Fiasco

Following an alleged brutal attack on a wrestling coach at the Chhatrasal Stadium in New Delhi, the authorities have asked all the wrestlers to vacate the hostel rooms, as per a report in IANS. As per the report, the incident when a trainee wrestler along with his friends attacked the coach with sticks, after an altercation on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, the coach is undergoing treatment after receiving injuries on the head, a source revealed. Speaking to IANS, Ashish, a wrestler at Chhatrasal Stadium said, “The stadium authorities have asked all the grapplers to leave the ‘akhada’… Our luggage have been kept out of the rooms. The matter is big as our coach was beaten badly. No wrestling action will take place at Chhatrasal for at least a month now.”
