The trouble for Pakistan hockey seems to be mounting with each passing day. The FIH has now warned the Pakistan government and the two rival factions to end their dispute by Thursday, or they could face indefinite suspension. As per the PHF official, the international body made it clear the issues should be resolved asap.
What Does it Means for Pakistan Hockey?
A failure to resolve the issues would mean that the Pakistan Hockey team would not be allowed to take part in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup (May 4-11, Malaysia) and the Nations Cup (May 31-June 9, Poland). In fact, the organisers of the Sultan Azlan Shah cup have asked for guidance on the same issue by the FIH.

In the meantime, the two factions have gotten in touch with the organisers to announce the squad for the upcoming tournament. One faction headed by Tariq Hussain Bugti has even seeked the services of Dutch coach Roelant Oltmans.
Same Old Story for PHF & Pakistan Hockey
The Pakistani team has failed to make it to the Olympics for over a decade now, and their rankings has dropped out of top-15 as well. They haven’t won a tournament of repute in a long time, and their players don’t have the same kind of quality anymore. In fact, they haven’t had a permanent coach since last year, when Siegfried Aikman left the job due to non-payment of dues.
