Bajrang Punia suspended by NADA once again, served notice of charge 3 weeks after ADDP’s revocation

The suspension for Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Bajrang Punia had come on April 23, after being given a whereabouts failure notice on April 18

Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia has been once against suspended by the National Anti-Doping Agency. The decision comes three weeks after NADA’s Anti-Disciplinary Doping panel (ADDP) had revoked the sentence on May 31 until the agency issued a notice of charge. Punia was suspended on April 23 for refusing to cooperate with the NADA by providing a urine sample following the trials held at Sonipat.

Bajrang Punia suspended again

This serves as a formal notice that you are being charged with the violation of Article 2.3 of the National Anti-Doping Rules, 2021 and now you are provisionally suspended,” said NADA’s communication to Bajrang, as per PTI.

Why was Punia suspended?

The suspension for the Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Bajrang had come on April 23, after being given a whereabouts failure notice on April 18. On the flipside, Bajrang had accused the officials of sending the sample collectors with expired kits. In an April 25 meeting, the Mission Olympic Cell sanctioned 8,82,000 for Bajrang to and train at Dagestan, Russia from May 28.
