Turkey and Portugal face off in UEFA Euro 2024 Group F, with both teams brimming with confidence after their opening game victories. Both teams will be eager to secure a win and strengthen their positions in Group F. Turkey aims to continue their historic run, while Portugal looks to maintain their strong group-stage record. Ahead of Portugal vs Turkey, let us take a look at the prediction.

Portugal form

Portugal, secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over the Czech Republic, with substitute Francisco Conceição scoring a stoppage-time winner. Martinez’s men came back from a goal down to clinch three points.

Historically, Portugal has performed well in the group stages of the Euros, losing only one of their last nine group-stage matches (W4 D4). That defeat came against Germany in 2021 (4-2). Their last group-stage loss against a team other than Germany was at Euro 2008, where they fell to Switzerland 2-0.

Turkey form

Vincenzo Montella’s Turkey emerged victorious in what has been considered the game of the tournament so far, defeating Euro debutants Georgia 3-1 in Dortmund. They now aim to win their first two games at a major tournament (World Cup/Euros) for the first time in history. If they manage to beat Portugal, Turkey will match their highest number of victories in a single European Championship edition, having previously won two games in 2008. The only time they have won more than two matches at a major tournament was during the 2002 World Cup, where they won four.

Turkey led with the most shots (22) and the highest expected goals total (3.01) of any team. The danger came from all angles, with 11 different players registering at least one shot, a joint-high in the opening round of the group stage alongside hosts Germany. Hakan Çalhanoglu was particularly influential, completing 88 of his 95 passes (92.6%), the most by any Turkey player in a European Championship game. The Inter midfielder also had the joint-most shots (4) and final-third entries (12) in the match.
