Hello and Welcome!

Hello and Welcome to the Live of Mohun Bagan vs Mumbai City FC for the ISL Cup Final 2023-24

The iconic Yuba Bharati Stadium in Kolkata once again will lay witness to the epic clash of the giants. With audience expected to touch above the 62,000 mark, it is do or die for both the sides to end the season. While Mohun Bagan are clashing the trophy to complete their domestic treble, the Islanders on the other hand are fighting for the first trophy of the season.

In the 2023-24 football calendar year, the Mariners defeated their formidable opponents 3-1 in the Durand Cup quarters. The two sides then clashed in the ISL where Mumbai pipped the Mariners 2-1 at home in a game that saw 7 red cards. Come the home leg, it was the ISL Shield decider and the Mariners returned the favour to win 2-1 at Kolkata to lift the ISL Shield.

Final Encounter!

The stage is now set for a dramatic encounter. It is the Cup final and winner takes all. Mohun Bagan will be keen to defend their Cup title while Mumbai will be hungry for a taste of maiden silverware in the season. Ahead of the clash both the sides have looked confident in striking comeback in the ISL semis.

Mumbai overturned a 2-0 deficit to Goa in the first leg to 2-3. The Islanders then beat the Gaurs in the return leg to finish the tie 5-2 to reach the finals. Mohun Bagan were handed a 2-1 defeat in Odisha, but the Mariners rallied hard to finish 2-0 to secure a spot in the finals with a 3-2 aggregate in the semis.

The two sides have previously met in a ISL Cup Final. Back in 2021, Mumbai staged a remarkable comeback in the dying minutes of the game to secure a 2-1 win and win the Cup. However, Bagan coach Antonio Lopez Habas is not too keen about revenge.

Team News

It is safe to say both the teams are equally matched in the finals. While Mohun Bagan will miss the services of Armando Sadiku, Mumbai on the other hand will miss out on Yoell van Nieff (both through suspensions). Another blow for Mumbai would be the absence of star left back Akash Mishara who suffered an injury in the semis clash against FC Goa.

For the Mariners, the team looks set. There aren’t any fresh concerns in the team. Sahal Abdul Samad who was out injured for the better part of the last 4-5 weeks, returned with a bang to score the decisive goal in the semi finals.
