Super 8: Andries Gous’ 80* goes in vain as South Africa beat USA by 18 runs

South Africa have moved to the top of the points table in Super 8 Group 2 with a tight win at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.

South Africa has won a tough 18-run victory over the USA in Antigua. Having posted a 195-run target, Proteas were on top, with Aaron Jones’ side 76/5. However, Andries Gous and Harmeet Singh turned things around quickly. They scored 91 runs together for the sixth wicket stand and brought the USA into the game. But the target remained far away. Gous scored an unbeaten 80 but fell out of partners, and South Africa claimed the first Super 8 win.
