Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma’s ‘destructive partnership’ leaves Sachin Tendulkar amazed

By scoring 167 runs in just 9.4 overs, SRH set a new record for the highest total in the first 10 overs of an IPL match

Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma delivered a breathtaking performance as Sunrisers Hyderabad chased down a target of 166 runs in just 9.4 overs, claiming a stunning victory against Lucknow Super Giants. This win took Sunrisers to the third spot in the points table, thus boosting their chances for the IPL 2024 playoffs. Even cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar was amazed by their performance in the SRH vs LSG game.

‘A destructive opening partnership would be an understatement tonight. Had these boys batted first, they would’ve scored 300!’ wrote Sachin Tendulkar on Twitter.

A record-breaking partnership

Head reached his fifty in just 16 balls, while Abhishek hit his half-century in 19 balls, leading Sunrisers Hyderabad to a dominant win, and handing Lucknow one of the biggest defeats in IPL history. Head remained unbeaten with 89 runs off 30 balls, while Abhishek contributed 75 runs off 28 balls. Together, they pummeled the LSG bowlers with a combined 13 sixes and 16 fours, demonstrating their powerful hitting ability.

By scoring 167 runs in just 9.4 overs, SRH set a new record for the highest total in the first 10 overs of an IPL match. Additionally, their victory with 62 balls to spare is a new IPL record for the most deliveries left while chasing a target of 100 or more.

Earlier in the match, Lucknow posted 165/4, thanks to a solid partnership between Pooran and Badoni. Despite their efforts, the incredible batting display by Head and Abhishek overshadowed their performance. The Sunrisers dugout watched in amazement as the opening pair made quick work of the target.
