The ICC named the 26 match officials for the first round of matches in the T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and the West Indies, starting June 1. Out of those 20 are umpires and the rest are match referees. The list includes Richard Illingworth, Kumar Dharmasena, Chris Gaffaney and Paul Reiffel, who had officiated in the T20 World Cup 2022.
Three Indians to Officiate in T20 World Cup
Interestingly, Nitin Menon, Javagal Srinath, and Jayaraman Madanagopal will be the ones officiating in the T20 World Cup, from India. Srinath, in fact is the only from the country to be named the match referee in the tournament.
“Within the selected cohort, we have a compliment of experienced match officials and other high performing members who have been recognized for their strong and consistent performances. The throughput from the pathway programme will continue to see the development and emergence of high-quality match officials across the game.
