Out-of-form Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli aims to get their midas touch back before Bangladesh Super 8 tie

Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have together added just 105 runs in this T20 World Cup. This adds to just 20 percent of what the entire Indian team has mustered in the first 4 games.

Despite a convincing win against Afghanistan in their opening Super 8 clash, the Indian team witnessed a sight that would have pleased them greatly. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the modern-day legends who have been struggling for form in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, were seen putting in the extra yards during an optional training session in Antigua.

India flew over 500 kilometers from Barbados to Antigua after their win against Afghanistan. While optional training sessions usually see a limited number of players participate, both Rohit and Kohli were present, determined to regain their batting touch before the encounter against Bangladesh on June 22.

More on Ro-Ko

Rohit & Kohli have been lackluster thus far!

Rohit and Kohli batted just once as openers prior to the T20 World Cup 2024. They were, however, slotted in together in order to compensate for some big-hitters in the middle order. The strategy hasn’t quite worked yet. Rohit, has has managed only 76 runs in four innings with an average of just 19.00 and a strike rate of 111.76. Virat Kohli has fared even worse, scoring a meagre 29 runs with a shambolic average of 7.25 and a strike rate of less than 88.

Ro-Ko aims to reclaim their thrones!

Their struggles have been a cause for concern for the Indian team, but their dedication in the optional training session is a positive sign. They were joined by Ravindra Jadeja, Sanju Samson, Rinku Singh, and Khaleel Ahmed at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.

With both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli being lynchpins of the Indian batting line-up, their return to form is critical for India’s chances of lifting the T20 World Cup trophy. While other batters have chipped in throughout the tournament, it is high time now for both modern-day greats to hit their straps!
