Guyana Weather Forecast: Will rain ruin India vs England semifinal at Providence Stadium?

The previous five matches played at the venue have been completed successfully. Will the weather gods show their mercy one final time?

On June 27, we might see rain end up as the winner instead of India or England. The second semifinal of the T20 World Cup, which is being played in Providence Stadium, Guyana has a serious chance of getting washed out. Rain is consistent in Georgetown in June. According to WeatherSpark, 23 out of 30 days in the month witness rain in the Guyanese capital. From the sound of it, it would’ve been surprising if the weather gods were pleasant for the India vs England semifinal.

Weather Report, June 27: Providence Stadium, Guyana

It’s going to be cloudy conditions with a 90% probability of rain on June 27, according to AccuWeather. Although conditions in Guyana during the match hours are slightly better, if it rains heavily before the game starts (8 PM IST), the India vs England semifinal could be delayed irrespective of the conditions during the match hours due to the wet outfield.

No reserve day but extra time allotted for India vs England semifinal

There is no reserve day for the second semifinal, but an additional 250 minutes will be added to ensure we get a complete match. That means match timing will be from 10:30 AM to 5:50 PM local time in case of rain interruptions. Also, unlike regular T20Is where a minimum of 5 overs have to be played to determine the result of the match, both teams in the India vs England semifinal will have to play at least 10 overs for a result to be possible. If the match is washed out, India will advance as they finished on the top of the point table in the Super 8 Group 1.
