Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir appeared for his first round of interview for the position of India cricket team head coach on Monday. The southpaw is the only candidate who has applied for the position. As per PTI reports, Gambhir appeared for the interview virtually from Delhi. CAC chief Ashok Malhotra also reportedly attended the interview via Zoom, owing to his commentary commitments in the Punjab T20 League. Further, the report stated that there was no update on having a New Zealand selector.
News agency IANS stated that Gambhir has put forth certain demands, including separate teams for white and red-ball cricket, which the BCCI has reportedly agreed to. The report further states that the decision on Gambhir is expected to me made soon.

His candidacy will be evaluated by the CAC, comprising former cricketers Ashok Malhotra, Jatin Paranjpe, and Sulakshana Naik.
Following the interviews, the CAC will make their recommendations to the BCCI, which will then make the final announcement.
