Veteran Pakistani cricketer Bismah Maroof has decided to hang up her boots, announcing her retirement from all forms of international cricket on Thursday. It came as a sudden call for the 32-year-old, who represented Pakistan in an impressive 276 international matches across formats.

The shocking decision came two days after Pakistan got a 3-0 drubbing from the West Indies in a recently concluded ODI series in Karachi. The left-handed batter took to her social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to share a heartfelt note about her decision. Maroof’s leadership qualities were on display as she captained the Pakistan women’s team in 96 matches.

With a mixture of emotions, I bid farewell to the incredible journey of representing Pakistan on the international stage.,” Expressing her passion for Pakistan cricket in her 17-year storied career, Maroof wrote on her social media.
