Australia’s T20 World Cup playing jersey revealed; Aussies ditch yellow-black for green for first time

With a strong squad featuring seasoned players like David Warner, Mitchell Starc, and Glenn Maxwell, alongside exciting talents like Cameron Green and Tim David, the team in green will be aiming to bring home the T20 World Cup trophy.

Australia cricket team fans, get ready for a splash of green! The official playing jersey for the upcoming T20 World Cup has been revealed, marking a significant departure from recent tournaments.

Australia Cricket Team: New Era Dawns in Green

For the first time ever at a ICC T20 World Cup, the Australian team will wear a predominantly green uniform. This bold shift coincides with the captaincy change, as Mitchell Marsh takes the reins.

The design closely resembles the Asics T20 kit launched earlier this year, which incorporated First Nations artwork designed by Aunty Fiona Clarke.

Honouring Past, Embracing Future

The kit features the “Walkabout Wickets” artwork on the side panels, continuing the tradition established in the 2022 Indigenous-themed kit. This artwork pays homage to both past and present First Nations cricketers in Australia.

Back to Basics: Farewell Black, Hello Collarless

The new kit ditches the black colour scheme that dominated the past five T20 World Cup appearances for Australia. Interestingly, the design goes collarless, similar to the kits used in the inaugural World T20 tournaments (2007, 2009, and 2010).

Green and Gold: Winning Combination

Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood expressed his enthusiasm for the new kit, stating, “When you think of green and gold you think of Australia.” He believes the return to green signifies a positive change after the black era.

The replica jerseys are now available for purchase, allowing fans to proudly showcase their support for the Aussies while celebrating Indigenous heritage.
