3 SRH players who might not be retained by franchise after IPL 2024

SRH has come up with a formidable side this IPL 2024. Pat Cummins and his company are doing a wonderful job, but still, there are a few changes that seem as clear as the sky. Who are those we might not see next season? Take a look at these 3 SRH players

Sunrisers Hyderabad, after a long time, appear to have entered IPL 2024 with no excuses. The franchise is performing impressively well with both bat and ball. In the IPL 2024 points table to date, they hold the 3rd position with 5 wins in 7 games. However, even when the team is doing well, there are a few loopholes that SRH should address if they want to excel in crucial moments. They can only do this by revamping few aspects and giving opportunities to new talents rather than persisting with old ones. Here is a list of 3 SRH players who might get dropped next season.

Mayank Agarwal

Mayank Agarwal is the first name that might get released by the SRH franchise in the next season. Considering his age and form in particular, he has not performed well for the franchise so far this season. Having played three matches to date, he has not capitalized on the opportunities and has only scored 59 runs with an average of 19.52.

With the power-packed batting lineup of SRH this time, on one hand, Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Heinrich Klaasen are ruling  the IPL with their batting, whereas Mayank Agarwal is struggling to make his mark this time. There is a possibility that the SRH franchise may drop Umran from their squad next season.

Umran Malik

Malik, the 24-year-old SRH pacer, has impressed everyone with his pace and accuracy. He was picked by the SRH franchise in 2021, and in no time, he became a key asset for SRH and later for India as well. has played 26 IPL matches to date, picking up 29 wickets with a bowling economy of 9.40. He has impressed many with his fiery pace. Although Umran has faced a dip in his form and has not represented India since July 2023.

Speaking about his IPL 2024 performance, out of the 8 matches SRH played, he only got an opportunity to play in 1, which might give us a hint that he may lose his spot next season. It is early to predict, as Umran is just 24, and a bowler like him deserves more chances. It will be interesting to see what SRH decides.

Marco Jansen

Marco Jansen is another name whose future with SRH is not looking as bright as it should be. SRH bought him for the 2022 IPL at a hefty price of 4.20 crore. It seems that he is not justifying the price as a fast bowling all-rounder. Having played 19 games, he hasn’t made any impact to date. He has conceded 626 runs with a poor bowling average of 32.95 and picked up just 19 wickets. Looking at his batting performances in the IPL, he has also disappointed, making just 49 runs in 19 games. It seems like he may also get dropped at the Hyderabad airport as the team might not persist with him from the next season.
